Who We Are

The Parkersburg Area Coalition for the Homeless is a non-profit organization that strives to help those in our community who are homeless. Together we try to find solutions to a problem that no human being should face alone. The Coalition is a group of individuals who give of their time and ideas with the reward of knowing that they have made a difference in someone’s life.

Is there really a homeless problem in Parkersburg?

Many people falsely believe that because they don’t see a homeless person sleeping in a box or on a steam grate that there are no homeless individuals in our area. The fact is that there are people who are in our area, and they need our help with day-to-day survival and with finding permanent housing.

Our Mission

The Parkersburg Area Coalition for the Homeless works toward finding solutions to the problem of homelessness in our community. This includes:

• Public awareness concerning the homeless population and what their needs are
• Taking action by providing basic hygiene and survival items such as food, soap, towels, blankets, sleeping bags, etc to those in the homeless population
• Referral for those in need of mental health services, substance abuse treatment, housing, or medical care
• Working towards long-term solutions by providing more affordable housing options within our community
• Support for those agencies in our community who are also striving to assist the homeless population
• Friendship and support for individuals presently living on the streets and those who are in the process of obtaining housing

P.A.C.H. meets with representatives from

Volunteer Action Center, WV Association of Family and Community Education, Community Resources Inc., PS Project Recovery and Support Network, Parkersburg Urban Ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Consumer Credit Counseling, City of Parkersburg, Wood County Emergency Food Co-Op., Old Man Rivers, Legal Aid, and any other individuals from the community.
